Sabbats - Ostara
Ostara is a springtime festival, usually celebrated around the spring equinox, which is around March 20th.
Ostara (pronounced uh-star-uh) shares one thing in common with Mabon, the day and night are equal during this sabbat. It’s a day that shows that brighter days are finally here. It is also a fertility festival and a perfect time for spell work focusing on growth and new beginnings.
Ostara's activities include making hot cross buns, painting eggs, cooking with eggs, planning a spring and summer garden, planting new seeds, spring cleaning, nature walks and decorating your altar.
Personally, I love doing a spring clean for Ostara, and I like doing prosperity work and encouraging new growth in my life and self-development. This year I’m planning to do some egg decorating with the twins, and see what I can create with the littlest as she is still far too young for egg painting. We’ll also take a nature walk and see if we can see any bunnies (the twins’ favourite thing due to a Peter Rabbit obsession!).
