Sabbats - Mabon
Mabon, or the Autumn Equinox/Mid Autumn Festival, falls on or around September 22nd/23rd each year. It’s also my personal favourite as it sometimes falls on my birthday (September 23rd).
Mabon is the celebration of the Autum Equinox. It celebrates the second harvest and when the day and night are equal.
It is seen as a time to honor aging dieties, and the spirit of the world. It also celebrates the gains of the harvest season, as these would have traditionally been stored away now for winter. It also was celebrated as a feast day, and some Pagans do still celebrate it this way.
Some Mabon activities include; going for an autumn walk, creating a besom or witches broom, donating to a charity, baking fruit based pies (apple is my favourite!) and reflecting and giving thanks. Personally I tend to bake on this sabbat, and reflect. I also try and do a foodbank donation if I can when I do that weeks shopping.
Some of the correpondences for Mabon are;
Deities - The Green Man, Thor, Thord, Mabon, Morgan and Persephone
Crystals - Yellow Agate, sapphire and lapis lazuli
Herbs - sage, myrrh
Colours - red, orange, maroon, gold
