How I’m Celebrating Beltane This Year
At the time of writing this, Beltane hasn’t happened yet, but by the time this post goes live, it will have. Confusing right? Keep an eye on my Instagram to see if I stuck to these plans!
So as I mentioned in my Beltane post, Beltane is on May 1st and marks the beginning of Summer.
Weather dependent I would love to do a picnic on Beltane. If it is a bad day, weather wise, I may just do an indoors picnic and that way we still get to do that celebration. I am also keen to do flower crafts, but so these keep I’d love to do them with fake flowers.
Beltane’s food correspondences include tend to include the likes of honey, or are very sweet foods. So because I don’t normally bake with honey, I am tempted to try a honey cake for this year. If that doesn’t work out, I can also bake or cook with seasonal fruits and vegetables. Strawberries are one of the fruits that are in season, so the temptation would be to do a Victoria sponge with a jam and cream middle. I don’t know about you, but I do love a Victoria sponge. This would also add to the correspondence of dairy products with the cream. Plus its perfect for sharing!
Another activity for this is dancing around a may pole, which I obviously do not have access to, but how fun would that be!
Spending time in nature is a big one for this sabbat as well. This can look different for a lot of families cause its all about what your kids will tolerate. I am very tempted to do a forest walk with a little sheet of things to look for. That way it encourages the kids to look around and appreciate nature as well.
What are your plans for Beltane? Let me know in the comments!
